Schizophrenia is a devastating brain disorder that often strikes in late adolescence or early adulthood. Diagnosis today relies entirely on clinical evaluation of symptoms—there is no objective laboratory test for schizophrenia. This lack of a biomarker means many patients are diagnosed months following a first psychotic break, missing the opportunity for early intervention. Delays in treatment are common and are associated with worse long-term outcomes. Approximately 70% of people with psychosis worldwide do not receive specialized mental health care. underscoring a critical gap in care. An accessible early diagnostic tool could transform this landscape by identifying vulnerable patients sooner and guiding them to timely treatment before the disease progresses.

Our Solution

NeurogenicDx is pioneering a novel immuno-diagnostic approach for schizophrenia. Our blood test detects pathological Platelet-Associated Antibodies (PAA) – unique autoimmune biomarkers found in patients with early-stage schizophrenia. The assay uses a standard ELISA format enhanced with proprietary reagents to capture and measure these disease-related antibodies in a patient’s serum. This approach is the result of 25 years of collaborative research with leading institutions (including the Weizmann Institute of Science and top psychiatric centers in Israel) and is the first to leverage schizophrenia’s emerging autoimmune signature for diagnosis. A simple blood test that can be run in any hospital lab, it objectively indicates if a young patient is likely to have schizophrenia – long before traditional clinical methods alone can confirm a diagnosis.
